IASL is a growing force for excellence in school librarianship throughout the world. The mission of the International Association of School Librarianship (IASL) is to provide an international forum for people interested in promoting effective school library media programs as viable instruments in the educational process. Membership is worldwide, and includes school librarians, teachers, librarians, library advisers, consultants, educational administrators, and others who are responsible for library and information services in schools. The membership also includes professors and instructors in universities and colleges where there are programs for school librarians, and students who are undertaking such programs. The IASL Website is located at http://www.rhi.hi.is/~anne/iasl.html and contains over 130 pages of information about IASL, including Award Programs, School Libraries Worldwide (professional journal), IASL Newsletter, Annual Conferences, Professional Reviews, Committees, SIGs (Special Interest Groups), IASL-LINK (members only listserv), as well as links to resources, documents and associations around the world. Association members receive all of the services of individual/institutional members and may send a representative to the annual conference for the Assembly of Associations. Annual membership benefits include the IASL Newsletter; a professional journal, School Libraries Worldwide, containing the best research and current thinking in the profession; an electronic listserv; reduced conference registration fees and the opportunity to network with your counterparts from around the world in a stimulating intellectual and social environment.
