I just know someone in this group has the answer to this one. One of my teachers wants to know the "technical term" used for "that piece of the map that isn't where it would be because the piece of paper is too small". The examples used are a map of South America where the southern tip is off to the side, and a map of USA with Alaska and Hawaii to the side. Sometimes the piece is boxed sometimes it isn't. What is that called? The reference collection at my library (a K-5) is thin anyway and there is a BIG hole where I think this answer should be.
