My 11th graders are enthusiastically involved in Huckleberry Finn censorship debates and we have been searching in vain for censorship statistics (general or specific to HF). In preparation for this assignment, I beefed up our print collection, searched Infotrac, Proquest, NewsBank and SIRS and found several meaty websites (marktwain.miningco.com; ALA Banned Books; Books A to Z; and People for the American Way), but, alas, no statistics are forthcoming. They must be out there somewhere. Does anyone have any suggestions? -- Marie A.
