This is the most asinine thing I have ever heard of.  Don't these people
have anything better to argue over?

Don't we all, as librarians, make a conscious effort to buy books by
non-white authors (Hamilton, Taylor, Soto, Yep, etc.)?  Even that is a ki=
nd
of reverse discrimination - our job is to provide the best possible
literature for our kids, regardless of the race of the author.

Also, is this policy even possible, given that the vast majority of autho=
rs
are white?  Are they going to end up buying fewer books because they can'=
t
find enough non-white authors to fulfill their percentage?

Whew - I didn't mean to get so worked up, but this sort of bull**** reall=
y
gets to me.
