In the past few years, public libraries (San Francisco, New York, & others)= have experienced a negative backlash from some patrons who feel too much= emphasis is being placed on technology resources in public libraries, i.e.= CD-Rom and on-line references, automated OPACs, etc. They bemoan the= decline in the availability of books, and don't want to use the= computerized resources. A colleague and I are interested in whether this phenomena is also occuring= in media centers. We are aware of general technology apprehension in= schools on the part of some faculty (toward classroom computers, etc.), but= wonder if any media specialists/librarians have had complaints about= technology in the media center/library. If you have experienced something= along these lines (from faculty or students), or you yourself have concerns= about technology influx, please email me with the details. TIA!
