Here's a partial listing of the recommended adult reads that wonderful LM_Netters have suggested. The remainder of this list will be posted next week (after Spring Break) because I forwarded many of them to school and now do not have access to them at home! You'll notice that many of us are reading the same thing. (You guys caused me to spend a small fortune over the weekend at Borders!) Keep those suggestions coming! ^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^= Please read Randall's Wall by Carol Fenner. Anywone working with children should read this book. ^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^= The author of _Ellen Foster_ is Kaye Gibbons. I love her work. _A Cure for Dreams_, _A Virtuous Woman_, and _Charms for the Easy Life_ are three of her books that you might want to read if you enjoyed _Ellen Foster_. I also heartily recommend _Handling Sin_, which I read a few months ago. "Hilarious" and "rollicking" are two descriptive words the book brings to mind. It reminded me somewhat of _A Confederacy of Dunces_, but the characters are much warmer and more loveable. Try it. ^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^= I will finish Simeti's _On Persephone's Island; Desiring Italy ed. Susan Cahill; Tim Parks _Italian Neighbors and _Turkish Delights_. I might throw in a few cookbooks to keep ideas in that vein fresh. ^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^= _Ellen Foster _ by Kaye Gibbons ^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^= Cold Mountain by Fraiser She's Come Undone Wally Lamb The Gospel According to the Son Norman Mailer Gone South Robert McCammon are the last four I read. Loved them all. Cold Mountain was powerful. The Gospel was for personal growth. ^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^= I'm probably very late reading this because kiddie lit takes up so much of my time, but I'm right now deep into The Hot Zone and I highly recommend it. I't the true story of the outbreak and search for the source of the Ebola virus, and it's as good as most fiction thrillers. ^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^= A great Civil War book that is popular right now is "Cold Mountain" by Frasier. It's only out in hard cover so far. ^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^= * * Robie Martin ^ Librarian, Parsons Middle School \__/ Parsons, KS 67357 robiem@vikingnet.net =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= To quit LM_NET (or set NOMAIL or DIGEST), Send an email message to listserv@listserv.syr.edu In the message write EITHER: 1) SIGNOFF LM_NET 2) SET LM_NET NOMAIL or 3) SET LM_NET DIGEST * NOTE: Please allow time for confirmation from Listserv.
