LM_NET: Library Media Networking
You people are wonderful. I received many, helpful responses to help me
make my decision whether or not to retain Super TOM on CD-ROM. Several
of you asked me to list responses, so here goes:
1) A small K-12 school: Has been using Super TOM on line ($2,600) but is
switching to Electric Library (5 hooks at one time for $2200), Reasons:
More full text, more newspapers, and other sources.
2) 7-12 (300 students): Try both Online and CD-ROM for a year.(2
responses)
3) Very satisfied with Electric Library--beats Supertom Jr. and
Newsbank.
4) Have TOM on CD-ROM and Online--satisfied.
5) Prefer Super TOM online to CD-ROM (3 responses)
6) Like SuperTOM on CD-ROm
7) Likes SIRS--CD-ROM (we have it online in addition to Super TOM)
8) Changed to Ebsco MAS full Text Elite this year and pleased with it.
Able to: (1) Mark individual articles as being local holdings; (2)
limit searches to certain magazines; (3) limit to full text only.
Magazines billed as full text on TOM did not have all articles full
text.
This is what I have thus far and I will do some investigating and trying
out Electric Library and Ebsco before making a final decision. Thank
