TECH: Email preferences on disk

Dear Everybody:
Here's my problem.  We have internet access in the elementary primarily
in the computer labs (MAC 5200s).  Many teachers like to check their
email in the lab.  To avoid having to always adjust the preferences in
Netscape Mail (we're using version 2.02), the teachers each choose a
computer to be "their" email computer.
This was not much of a problem until the 6th grade started an email
project.  Now it's a hassle.
Here's what I'd like to do.  I'd like to have the preferences for each
person's email stored on a disk.  Ideally, when the person opened the
email package, they could use the disk preferences.  I have heard of this
working, but I don't know exactly how to do it.
Do you?  Would you tell me how?  We are currently using Netscape mail,
but I have both Eudora and Claris Emailer.  I would be interested in any
other software recommendations you have.If they test out, we'll buy the
software for the district.
One thing we can't do is go to a much higher version of Netscape--we only
have 12 MB of RAM on these machines.  We could use Internet Explorer, but
we don't really like it.
