TARGET: 1940s hits

Greetings from Scotland!  I have a teacher who is looking for the music hits
of the 1940s (US or UK).  I've searched on the Internet, but to no avail,
and feel I'm going slowly mad with frustration!  I don't suppose anyone can
help?
