Librarians as Tech Coordinators

Hi folks,
How many of you out there are designated either officially or
unofficially as the Tech Coordinator for your school in addition to being
Librarian/Media Specialist?  I don't necessarily mean just a
troubleshooter, but the person who guides the tech planning and
implementation, plans for and/or teaches staff tech integration
techniques, chairs the technology committee, reviews software, in other
words--has the vision.  How do you see this role blending with your job
as media specialist?  Do you get compensated in some way for the role of
tech coordinator--extra duty pay, extended contract, or simply
an increased salary?  I'm the librarian at a small school and my role has
evolved into  what I've listed above plus technician, in addition to
managing the libraries.  This is due to my own initiative and is an
outgrowth of my efforts in using technology in the library and developing
research projects with the classroom teachers.  I love the work, with the
exception of technician aspect which takes up way too much time.
However, up to now this has been an unofficial role (no pay). I need your
input as to the advantages, if you see any, to a librarian in the role of
tech coordinator. BTW I'm aware that the Tech Coordinator job should be a
full-time position, but that will not happen here yet.  TIA
