SLJ did a review of cd-rom encyclopedias last fall. It is available

and includes a discussion of Compton's cd.

Yahoo Internet Life reviewed encyclopedias online. For what it's
worth, it gave Encarta Online 3 stars and Compton's only 2 and a half
stars .. but it's point was amount of information found. Of Encarta
it said: "...our sample searches were less detailed than those at Grolier
or Britannica, although they often were easier to understand." Of
Compton's it said: "provides less information overall on our sample searches
than most others..."
