Story title

Here I go again.  Need an answer to a question I have had for years.  My
dad used to tell a story about 30 years ago about a man who lived inside a
chair.  He became disfigured as he was always in there ( And I cannot
remember why).  He fell in love with a girl who sat on this chair.  Ring
any bells.  I remember telling this story( which I obviously knew well
then) at a slumber party and it so frightened my friends that my mom was
called and asked to take me home.  Perhaps that experience alone has
caused me to block it.  But, Dad is gone now, and I'd really like to be
reminded of that story and its origin if possible.  Dad wasn't much of a
reader.... Thanks
