Karen, I'm sure you have gotten your phone call by now. I saved your message, talked with many of my teachers to get their responses. The responses poured in today (Thurs, Mar. 26). A commercial during the piece on the tragedy in Jonesboro showed young men drinking, a man pulling a young lady into the tub with him, and the gang using semi-automatic rifles. The concensus was that the commercial was inappropriate for Channel One, but that it would be shown during a feature on violence in schools where two young men killed fellow classmen and a teacher was unconscionable. One of the English teachers called the 800 number for Channel One to complain and it appears that they had quite a few calls today. The general feeling is that Channel One has made a shift if focus, and not a favorable shift.
