Thanks to all the great responses for a Vietnam novel that could be used in an American Literature class in conjunction with the American History class. This is an 11th grade class but according to the responses, many of the novels could be used from junior high through senior high school. _Fallen Angels_ by far was recommended the most often. _In Country_ and _Going After Cacciato_ came in next. <fontfamily><param>Helvetica</param><bigger><bigger>Vietnam Fiction: Novels and Short Stories Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers The Road Home by Ellen Emerson White Young Man in Vietnam by Charles Coe December Stillness by Hahn In Country by Bobbie Mason The Monument by Paulsen The Ambassador by Morris West The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien (series of short stories) The Purple Heart by Marc Talbert Going After Cacciato by Tim O'Brien Boat to Nowhere by Wartoski Car by Paulsen When Heaven and Earth Changed Places Monkey Bridge A Good Scent from a Strange Mountain (a collection of stories) by Robert Olen Butler Dear America Letters Home Park's Quest by Katherine Paterson A Rumor of War by Philip Caputo (nonfiction, novel-like reading) 13th Valley by DelVeccio Song of the Buffalo Boy Illumination Rounds by Johannsen (a resource for Vietnam literature published by the National Council of Teachers of English, 1992) </bigger></bigger></fontfamily> =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= To quit LM_NET (or set NOMAIL or DIGEST), Send an email message to listserv@listserv.syr.edu In the message write EITHER: 1) SIGNOFF LM_NET 2) SET LM_NET NOMAIL or 3) SET LM_NET DIGEST * NOTE: Please allow time for confirmation from Listserv.
