I just have to tell this group about the author visit we had at our school today. Roland Smith came and he was wonderful. I had had a short preview a few months before so I sort of knew what I was thought I was getting but I want you all to know that he was fantastic. He quickly developed an excellent rapport with the students, answered questions, signed books, and did five very good presentations. One on zoos and taking care of the animals, and 2 each about Kenya and writing books. He really impressed the students as being not only a working author but also a human being, not a magical mythical "author". He talked to them about doing research about the subject even if you are writing fiction, and then writing about it and then revising. "Writing is revision". If you have the chance to go to one of his presentations or to have him at your school, do it.
