GEN: thick yarn

Well, the year is winding down, and I'm thinking about next year.  To help me
learn the kids' names quicker (and not call them by their siblings' or
cousins' names) I made book-shaped name tags, but can't find the very thick
yarn to thread through the holes.  I am looking for the yarn which is almost
as thick as a child's finger.  It doesn't seem to be around my part of Los
Angeles, and I was wondering if it's in a catalog.
