I would never negate the work a library aide is capable of doing.
However, I can not buy into the arguement that a district can not afford
to hire a certified librarian. The same arguement would not be in place
if the issue was a teacher. Librarians are certified and qualified
teachers.

Maybe we, as a profession, must learn to let students suffer. Sound
cruel? Perhaps! If a parent or school district wants the best education
for the child, then they must pay for it.

I'm an animal rights person - i love animals -- maybe i should work as a
vet. I don't have the professional training - but, heck, i have the
interest.

We, as a profession, must stand firm for the rights of the professional
librarian - to protect the integrity of the profession, the rights of
the students and parents, and the rights of the community.

My opinion, for what it is worth.
