Do you have any calming exercises that you pull out when confronted with a class that is "off the wall" from a party or field day or some kind of competition? You know the time--the teacher drops them at the door with a roll of her eyes and tosses these words over her shoulder as she beats a retreat, "They are really hyper because we just blah, blah, blah." What do you have in your bag of tricks for getting them settled for library storytime or quiet magazine reading or considerate circulation time?
