Good Morning, The Art History teacher is requesting the following ( I have spoken quite highly of this group and would like to impress him with our collective knowledge) I will post a HIT for everyone I would be interested if you know of any novels that might be used as summer reading for art history students. I would like to compile a list of novels that treat such subjects as the lives of artists (in particular, painters, sculptors, and architects), the relationship between art and social and political issues, and the kinds of problems that have affected artists at different times in history. Among the works that are on my list are: William Golding's The Spire Kurt Vonnegut's Bluebeard Robert Hellenga's The Sixteen Pleasures Jane Urquhart's The Underpainter John Fowles' The Ebony Tower I would very much appreciate suggestions of other novels that might be included in this list. Thanks.
