I have come to realize that my circulation statistics do not accurately account for the traffic flow to my library. I think that it might be wise to try and keep some sort of record of how many actually visit the library. I will be getting a new PC next year for circ. and I thought maybe I could use the 386 that I now use for circ. to somehow keep track of those who visit. I would like a software that would allow me to put all patrons in with their bar code # so that they could just type in their bar code each time they came and I would like for them to be able to put an X in a column that tells why they are there, check out book, do centers, research etc. What would be a good software to do such as this. I would not want to try an track books checked out to the person or anything ( illegal) just who came and why. I am a primary school so this may be a little tricky. Most 2nd and 3rd can easily be trained might have to work with 1st and kinder. aides may have to come with their students, which they do anyway for a while, to help get the correct # in.
