ELEM: Need titles for troubled 10 yr old

I received this request for recommedations from an associate who serves
as a mentor. If you have some titles that come to mind, please reply
directly to me at rstewar@remc12.k12.mi.us

What books or audiotapes would you recommend for a 10-year-old
African-American boy who's not much of a reader and who lives in
a fairly impoverished situation? He's been having a tough year—getting
suspended almost every week.
