Amen!  We need to show that we are competant, um, I mean competent :-)

Seriously, though, we are *educators* and should write accordingly.  I too
have noticed many posts with typos and some posts with blatant
misspellings, even in the subject lines.  As a cordial request, it would
be wonderful if all would read through messages at least once to check
spelling before posting to an audience of over 10,000 fellow educators.  I
sometimes consult a dictionary or perform a spell-check in a word
processor before actually posting to LM_NET or any other listserv.

While I understand that we are all very busy people, I also believe
strongly that it is our professional duty to set a good example for
colleagues and the young people with whom we work.  After all, everyone is
judged by the way they speak and they way they write.  I always try to
write in a manner by which I want to be judged.
