Dear Librarians,
Imagine that we now have to do the following in our schools:
>We have a drill called a lock down. When a certain sound is played on the
>P.A. system students and staff know to go to the first available clasroom
>(library included). Staff lock doors until an all clear signal is given.
>We have other specific we follow, but hesitate to give out in such a
>public forum.
But after last year and all the killings, I guess we don't have any
choice. Since this is such a public forum I don't want the specifics,
but I was wondering how many of your schools have these procedures in
place and if you have any words of wisdom for the rest of us. After all,
better safe than sorry!

LM_NET Postings to other lists
As I understand the discussion, my posts to LM_NET may be taken without
my permission and posted to other lists that I don't know anything about.
Is that correct? I'm not sure that I like that my words are being taken
from this list and put onto other lists without my permission. I know
that if I post to LM_NET over 10,000 Librarians get my words and
thoughts. I know that my postings are in the archives. I did not know
and I did not give permission for my postings to be taken and re-posted
to other places that I don't know about. Does this bother anyone else?
I really have a tough time with these people who want to know what is
posted to LM_NET but don't "have" the time to read LM_NET themselves.
Then I guess they should check the archives or do without! You and I
make the time, and I'm sure that we all are very busy professional
Librarians. Just exactly where are the LM_NET postings going? Did Peter
give permission for these other "lists" to take our words? I read
Peter's post about this, but I don't think that allowing this re-posting
is a good idea, I want to choose which places and lists I post to. If
this is going to be new policy for LM_NET, will we get a list of these
"other lists"? I don't want to make a fuss about this if I am the only
one who is uncomfortable with this cross posting. Am I?
Thanks,
Jean
