I have a PowerBook G3 and would like to use a data projector so that I can use animated PowerPoint slides (instead of static overhead transparencies!) An S-video composite cord (S-video OUT (male mini-DIN 7)* at one end to connect to the PowerBook, and an RCA male at the other end, which could connect to the video-IN on the projector. I haven't yet tried this connection. I purchased an S-video cord (12') but then found that BOTH ends were S-video IN connectors**, so no-go there. I did connect from the monitor connector on the PowerBook to the monitor connector on the projector, but then I have to use the projector as the monitor (my PowerBook screen turns black). MacSecrets (4th ed.) says that you can "use a Powerbook that has a video output jack. Plug an external monitor into the video port. Your built-in PowerBook screen acts as one screen, and the external monitor acts as the other." But, as I said above, this didn't seem to work. Is there a control panel or extension that I'm missing which would allow the use of two monitor simultaneously? Thanks for all advice. Please send any answers to the address below, NOT to the entire list. Joyce Conklin jconkli@ed.co.sanmateo.ca.us San Mateo Union High School District librarian (ret.)
