Hi! First of all, I want to say how much I enjoy reading this listserv. I have gotten a lot of good ideas from here. Thanks for being here! I want to pose this question: How do you handle students who write in books? I recently did some detective work and pinpointed who had been doing this and called her in. She denied it of course until I got a handwriting sample. She confessed then. I have her coming in for lunch tomorrow to erase pencil marks out of books. We have also had a problem of books ending up in the toilets. I don't know how to stop this. I can't help these children's irresponsibility. I don't want to make a big issue of it simply because it will let the students know how to push my buttons. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you for your input.
