1.  Professors not only encourage joining listservs, but many REQUIRE it.

2.  My undergraduate work dealt with theory, but also had much of the hands
on,"nuts and bolts"  type information.

3.  Graduate school was EXTREMELY theory oriented and very little in the "nuts
and bolts" stuff.

4. I try to help  students when I can, unfortunatly, there are many times that
I do not due to time constraints.

5.  Some of us have been at this long enough to be able to forget what it was
like the first couple of years in the tranches.
