Info on "Six Traits to Great Writing"

Colleagues: Due to overwhelming request (SUBY,YOU WERE RIGHT!!) (ha), I am
posting the info I received about "Six Traits to Great Writing." Thanks to
Asst.Superintendent Lyle Ailshie of Greenville County (TN) Schools and Linda
Olson (not sure from where address but thanks!) Here's what Mr. Ailshie had
to offer: "It is not a book, it is a program developed by the Northwest
Regional Educational Laboratory. Their address is 101 SW Main Street, Suite
500, Portland, Oregon 97204. The phone number is (503)275-9500. Almost all
of our K-8 teachers have been trained. We also have 2 teachers who can do
the training themselves as a result of the system sending them for the
training for teachers. It is the best writing program I have seen and it
doesn't cost big bucks. The training is all the cost."  Ms. Olson sent the
additional following information: There is a book by the author of the
program, Vicki Spandel--Seeing with New Eyes--A Guidebook on Teaching and
Assessing Beginning Writers" Phone number is (503)275-9519."  My principal,
Opal Poe, was in a seminar where this program was discussed and she was VERY
impressed--and she doesn't impress easily, so it must be good!! Hope this
helps everyone!!
