Good Afternoon!

I have a 2nd grade teacher that is looking for information concerning
why coins look like they do.  Who made the decision to put Lincoln on
the penny, etc?  Does anyone know where to go for this info?  We have
checked the US Mint and Treasury, and neither dealt with specifics.  Any
site you could recommend would be helpful.  Thanks in advance.
