GEN: Future Teachers of America

Because there have been several posts about Future Teachers of America I
am posting what I know.  The parent organization of FTA was the National
Education Association.  They discontinued it in the mid 70s. I am
currently a sponsor of an FTA organization, but we have no national
affiliation.  My FTA is very active in our school and we are involved in
50 or more activities a year.  These activities include a float in the
homecoming parade, provide helpers for 18 preschool story hours,
tutoring in elementary and middle school classes at the request of the
classroom teacher, have a picnic for story hour children and their
mothers, and to raise money we have 10 to 15 concession stands a year
for middle school athletic events.  Last year FTA purchased new shelf
signs for both libraries in our school system and paid to have a puppet
show for the elementary students.  I have 85 students in FTA this year
and we have approximately 280 students in high school. If anyone has any
