Deb Logan's suggestion is a very good one. After a couple of years at my first school, I created a booklet about our LMC.In the booklet, I delineated procedures, what we had to offer, services available, what I expected of students (grade level goals), what I expected of teachers and why as well as my personal philosophy of libraries and a few teacher-oriented community resources. Between teachers coming in to say "I didn't know we had that" to the booklet covering my backside a couple of times (when teachers came in angry about someting or another and said "You never said that" I could point to page3 and said "You just never read it) it was the smartest thing I ever did. I reproduced them and gave one to each teacher along with their schedule. I asked that the schedule be posted in the room so they knew the free times to send kids and that they keep the book to give back to me at the end of the year. Its work but its worth it! By the way, I got so many requests for copies, it is on my website. Best to all!
