TARGET:ELEM: Author's birthplace/states

Hello,

As we start a new school year in Michigan, I am belatedly trying to
identify authors' (preferably for the k-5 crowd) birthplaces. I really
just need the state, but city info would be great, too. I am hoping to
have two or three from each state. My year long promotion this year is
"Read your way around the USA". Each week (beginning Sept.7) I will
feature authors born in the state and/or books set in the state. Many
weeks will include two states, so we can finish the U.S. during the school
year.

If you can help by sending me an author or two, it would be greatly
appreciated. Please send replies to rstewar@remc12.k12.mi.us , not to the
list. I will post a hit if desired.
