patience in receiving this hit.  Hope this info will prove helpful.

No Grade Level Noted OR Noted as Good for 2 and 3 Grades:

Buy four volumes of STORY STRETCHERS; MORE STORY STRETCHERS;
STORY STRETCHERS FOR PRIMARY GRADES     #4 = ?
Have a unit with a theme for each grade

Arthur series by Marc Brown
Berenstain Bears
Lyle the Crocodile series - Waber
William Steig  -  all books
Tomie DePaola - most books
These books are all on 2 & 3 level and have activities to accompany
them in many resources.

Coordinate with classroom themes, author studies, etc.

Pumpkinlight - tell stories by the light of a jack-o-lantern
"The Peculiar Such Thing"  from THE PEOPLE COULD FLY by Hamilton
"Gallymanders" from GRANDFATHER'S TALES by Chase
"The Teeny Tiny Woman"  (many versions available)

African folklore unit - THE FIRST MORNING by Bernstein / told with
mask then had students make masks
MOJA MEANS ONE by Feelings - taught students to play Mankala using
egg cartons and fish tank pebbles
MUFARO'S DAUGHTERS
WHO'S IN RABBIT'S HOUSE?

During a 20-40 min. session, select a theme and include a book to
read or story to tell; a visual; a song or musical piece from a CD
or sing; a poem or word play or rhyme; game/interaction activity;
library skill or review a skill previously covered; handout or
activity suggestion  to "leave behind" (she goes to each classroom)

Emphasize classroom management; devise games to reinforce rules;
utilize "hands on" activities (students really enjoy these)

Use student reviewers to give a booktalk

 Second Grade:

Series of lessons highlighting one author per lesson (Eric Kimmel
Smith, Mark Teague especially FROG MEDICINE, Don Freeman
HATTIE THE BACKSTAGE BAT)
Reading Rainbow videos
2nd grade was studying Inuit culture and THE ENCHANTED CARIBOU was
read to them during their lib./med.ctr. time   Then spent a number of
weeks writing puppet plays emulating an Inuit folktale and creating
shadow puppets similar to ones in book

 Third Grade:

Discuss patterns in books:  HOME ADVENTURE HOME and Van Allsberg
THE WRETCHED STONE or GARDEN OF ABDUL GASAZI
Do lessons with chapter books
Teach part of the books and do a unit on writing and illus. their own
"novel"    Then read to K-2
