TARGET: Need recommendations for K-12 reference books.

I am in the midst of an MLS internship, one of my projects has been to weed, and 
reorganize the reference
collection of the K-12/community library where I'm interning.  The weeding is done, 
but now I must fill in the
gaps and replace outdated print materials.  There are a few items that the 
librarian was not happy with so she
would like something else to replace these books, or I so far can't find any 
information on to purchase
updates.

I would be very grateful if you can recommend replacements or have any knowledgable 
information in the
following areas.  If you happen to have an address, phone number and/or price range 
as well it would really be
terrific.

Let's discover series (on animals), Raintree/Steck Vaughn, c. 1981.

ARCO America's phone book (a national business phone directory), General 
Information, Inc. --distributed by
        Rrentice Hall, c. 1990.

New encyclopedia dictionary of business law--**with forms**, Martin Ross/Prentice 
Hall, c. 1977.

Illustrated encyclopedia of science & invention, Marshall Cavendish, c. 1977 & 
1993. (She does not like this
        set and would like something that is written in America and is better for 
upper elementary and middle
        school users.)

A rhyming dictionary (She currently has the paperback from Scholastic, but would 
like another which is more
        comprehensive. I have found two from Follett, but no recommendations.)
