There is also a volume 2. I have both of these books on my professional shelf in my LMC. There are so many wonderful picture books that you can use with high school students, especially ones that deal with difficult topics like the holocaust and World War II : The Terrible Things by Eve Bunting Rose Blanche by Roberto Innocenti Faithful Elephants by Yukio Tsuchiya Shin's Tricycle by Tatsuhara Kodama Baseball Saved Us by Ken Mochizuki Hiroshima No Pika by Toshi Raruki Also, another picture book that would be popular right now is Bard of Avon : The Story of William Shakespeare by Diane Stanley. These are just a few titles that come to mind. Hope this helps!
