Dear Experts, A student handed in this poem as original work, and his teacher and I have doubts that he wrote it. I have searched the Internet using Altavista, Yahoo, Dogpile, Metasearch, etc., and come up empty. Does anyone recognize this? ROOTS The lariat snaps; the Indian rolls His pack, and mounts and rides away. Back to his land the Cherokee goes. Plumes of smoke from his ceremonial fire sway In the setting sun. The curtain falls, A train in the darkness pulls away. Goodbye, says the rain on the iron roofs. Goodbye say the barber poles. Dark drum the vanishing horses hooves. It is followed by a silhouette of a horse rearing on its hind legs, facing left. The graphic could, of course, have been clipart added to the poem, but we don't think the student is even THAT sophisticated. I have a reputation to protect as plagiarism police (thanks, in part, to you guys). Please help me retain my title!!!! Thanks for any help you can give.
