Not actually humor, I was so impressed with some first graders I had to
share it with you!!!


I've been teaching dictionary skills this week.  In one of my first
grade classes after their first lesson from me on dictionaries they
really applied their knowledge.  Earlier this school year I had taught
computer catalog skills, trying to get them excited about a practical
use for reading.  Usually I spend sometime over at the computers helping
spell, or they bring me a pencil and the note papers kept there.  That
day, when I glanced over to the computers, two of the kids had the
dictionaries.  They were looking up their subjects and then typing them
into the computer.  One actually had subject picked and was getting to
the books he wanted.  It was so exciting.
