Re: need title of book

Hello,

A teacher has asked me to find out the title of one of her favorite books
from childhood.  The author is Ralph Moody.  The story is about a boy whose
family is moving west.  His father dies on the way out, and there is a ranch
hand who takes him under his wing.  Can anyone identify this book? She
thinks that it is an autobiography.
