What a fun topic!
I've often done bulletin boards and display cases of students' or facultys'
favorite children's books, but this is such a good idea to ask our librarians .

My favorite children's were Charlottes Web; Obleck; Bartholemew (?) Cubins and
the 500 Hats; Rain's Lazy Liza Lizard's Tricks.

The one book that changed me into a "reader" as a young person was Tey's
Daughter of Time. It opened the world of history up to me, and stimulated me to
read for pleasure as well as information.

If you are of my generation (50's), you will remember that in primary grades,
the children were put in reading-level groups and given names. Each day the
group was called together to read our basal-books. I was in the "Blue bird"
group, and aspired to get into the top group, the "Robins". Because I hadn't
developed the necessary skills to ever reach that level by the end of 2nd
grade, reading for its intrinsic value eluded me until junior high school.
That's when Daughter of Time fell into my hands and changed things.

Thank you for raising this topic. It was nice to relive my youth.
