Favorite Childhood Book

OK, OK, I've got to jump in and tell this neat story about my favorite book
from childhood. I remember in fourth grade being sooooo crazy about "The
Pink Motel" by Carol Ryrie Brink, and asking my public librarian for more
books "just like it". I even looked for "pink" books hoping that would
help, or books shelved close by it. But alas, none measured up.

Several years ago, a student who was a voracious reader brought her mother
to the library media center to meet me so we could all talk about books.
The mother asked me what my favorite book from childhood was, and I told
her, and lo and behold, a few weeks later, she had found an old edition of
the book from an OP book dealer, and gave it to me because the hardback was
out of print.

A memory and gift I will treasure always....
