Hi, I have been reading the daily LM_NET messages, and have notice a certain type of request being made repeatedly by librarians for themselves and staff. Librarians are requesting copies of videos, which they missed videotaping from recent television broadcasts, to be made and sent to them by other librarians. When I received my training about copyright, it cover two areas: duplication and presentation. One of the things I thought was a no-no was duplicating for distribution copyrighted programs (commercial films and television programing). Is this still the case? Should we be doing this over the listserv, or have I misunderstood the interpretation of "fair use" in an educational setting for duplicated videos. I hope I haven't stepped on anyone's toes, but I feel uncomfortable about this situation where we are acting as an avenue to facilitate this behavior. Claudia Mahlman, Librarian William S.
