HIT: A Few More Solutions to Our Capt. Underpants Crisis

My students love "Hank the Cowdog."  I got one copy with a shipment of
Accelerated Reader books and will order more next year.

I don't think there are any other books like Dav Pilkey's irreverent Captain
Underpants series.  But I do have some boys who have also enjoyed the
following:

James Marshall.  Rats on the roof.  Rats on the range.

Manes.  Be a perfect person in just three days.  (Sometimes this title is
also written How to be a perfect person in just three days)  There are also
two other titles by this author, but I can't remember them.

Kline.  the Herbie Jones books

Jonathan Etra.  Aliens for breakfast.

Stephanie Spinner.  Aliens for lunch and Aliens for dinner.

Cuyler.  Weird wolf.

Johanna Hurwitz.  Aldo Applesauce,  Aldo Ice Cream,  Aldo Peanut Butter,
Hurray for Ali  Baba Bernstein!

Erickson.  All of the Hank, the cowdog, series.  (These are a little longer
than the other books, but several boys are hooked on the series.)

And if he moves on to longer books,  Judy Blume's Tales of a fourth grade
nothing,  Superfudge, and Fudge-amania.  One of our third grade teachers
always reads the first book to her students and they pick up the others.

A student in my building is reading the Gary Paulsen series: Dunc and Amous
Adventures.  What about the Marvin Redpost series by L. Sachar. Better
yet--the Junie B. Jones series by Barbara Park--all of my students (2nd and
up) absolutely adore these--they are more popular than the L Ames drawing
