During July, someone requested information about awards voted by children by state. I had to go into school to get the official information-then couldn't remember who had asked. I hope the person still wants the information. Nutmeg Children's Book Award is an award given to a children's fiction book for grades 4-6, written by an author who currently resides in the U.S.. It must be copyrighted after 1993 and currently in print in both hardcover and paperback. It must be well-written, with strong characterization, a vivid setting, striking language, a well-constructed plot, and a plausible conclusion. This award is sponsored jointly by the Connecticut Library Association(CLA) and the Connecticut Educational Media Association (CEMA). The Nutmeg Committee is comprised of children's librarians, school library media specialists and teachers. More information about the award can be obtained from the web site: http://www.cla.lib.ct.us/cla Hope that helps.
