Our public library has been involved in a "license to read" project. Last year they worked with K-5 schools and this year they are supposed to work with my K-8 school. I decided to do my opening bulletin board on "Get a license to read." I made a copy of our state's license plate on Print Shop and did several personalized plates that had to do with books and reading. One of the projects that the 4th and 5th grade students will do is to make up license plates of their own, using only 7 letter/numerical combinations that will promote books, reading, and learning. It's amazing what you can do to promote libraries and reading. After the project is completed, I will post a HIT on what the students have done. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Madeline L.
