I just learned about this study regarding computres and reading. The suty is a comparison of the influence of interactive CDROm storybooks and traditional print storybooks on reading comprehensions. in one study students read either print or CD-ROM. There was no statistical difference in reading comprension with open ended questions but there was a statisical difference in story retellings from the CD-rom group in another experiemnet students were given additional stories in CD-rom format. Their comprehension was significantly higher. ___________ > >One of our staff is attempting to set up a study on the actual extent >and nature of computer use effect on children and their reading. > >Does anyone know of studies in this area or have any suggestions >regarding reading on the subject? > ___________ Mary Alice Anderson, Media Specialist & Editorial Consultant, _Book Report/Technology Connection_ and columnist, _Multimedia Schools_ Winona Middle School 166 West Broadway Winona MN 55987 Ph: 507-454-9439 _______ Minnesota Information Power Trainer___ School web site: http://wms.luminet.net Personal home page: http://wms.luminet.net/teachers/manderso.html Media tech page: http://wms.luminet.net/wmstechnology/index.html =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
