Ascession Lists

I have just completed my first year and I have a Real World vs Library
School query. Do most of you maintain an ascession list? The former
librarian did not compile a list but most of the older books have ascession
numbers on the title page. I could not find the list anywhere so I did not
create one. I am rethinking that.
