I am catching up on my reading and found an interesting project created by Constance Visor. If you want to read the article, it is on page 43 of SLJ June 1999. Constance matched up classes in her school with "peers in a foriegn country. Each class would select its favorite picture book by an author from their own country and mail it, along with photos and info about their school, to its overseas partner. Non-English speaking students were instructed to send us translations along with the books. After exchanging books, teachers helped their classes compose messages to partner classes in order to learn more about one another's school, lives, and favorite books and authors." Wow. I would LOVE to do something like this. Constance suggests using E-Pals Classroom Exchange (www.epals.com) but I thought I would start with LM_NET first: If you are in a school overseas, would you be interested in this project? If so, let me know. I know we have people from all over the globe reading these messages!! Karen EdFrank Dorothy L.
