I do like the quickness and efficiency of using online sources. The magazine collection was starting to carry more browsing titles to lure readers in, but continued to carry news magazines. I recently learned that my total library media center budget for this year will be about $100.00. (Yes, you are reading correctly.) This means our subscriptions to online services (i.e. Ebsco, UMI, etc.) will not be renewed. For this reason--and when power is out, the server is down, the terminals are all busy-- I will keep back issues of the more used titles for research (Time, Newsweek, etc.). They will be an alternative; without them some research projects would be difficult to complete. In the future no doubt there will be some shifting. For now I like a balance.
