I have been a lurker on the issue of overdues and rewards. Once upon a time I had some great incentive programs to reward classes for having no overdues. My favorite was the year I had beautifully decorated hot air balloons representing each class. If the class had all the books returned, the balloon would rise one balloon length. After a few weeks it was easy to track the classes that were still "grounded" and needed prompting to get those books back. I realized the unnecessary discomfort it put on the child who had forgotten their book the day that the only person who forgot their book was my own daughter! She was horrified and embarrassed. Need I say more after that? :-) Sandy Kelly Library Media Specialist Carlisle School Carlisle, MA 01741 sandyk@massed.net =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
