historical homes of authors

Our middle school English teacher recently received a grant that will allow
his students to research and then build models of historic homes of
authors.  Does anyone know of any internet sites where I might find some
information.  I have searched Amazon and found some books on the subject.
Does anyone have personal input on any reference book that might help.
