Does anyone have any good places to send those people who want to publish a children's book? As an elementary media specialist, parents and friends think I must have some special powers regarding books. I have heard that in general publishing companies are more interested in seeing the story without the illustrations already done, but I am not sure. Is there a good book - or a good website - to give these potential authors? -Elizabeth B. I just receive a significant donation (about 1500 books) in brand new library-processed books to my lmc from a large law firm. I have been asked to write an article for the law firm's upcoming newsletter about the connection between new and attractive books and increasing literacy. I'm an lms in Central Harlem. My room is currently filled with many books that are old and shabby. Are there any articles that support the idea that the new attractive books my lmc is receiving will help increase literacy and/or help invite/inspire children to read. In the newsletter article they want me to site sources that support this idea to help build excitement about this project across the firm.
